A Selection from the Tarot

The Lovers

This painting is in oil on 18"x24" canvas. It was painted in October of 1983. It represents "The Lovers", one of J.Edward's major Tarot trumps. In his notes he refers to this card as "Lovers, slay the intruder, death to the King." It is a portrayal of the Lion being slain within the female. The woman is not only Babal-ON but also Cain. She does not want to kill her opposite, but she Will-ingly slays Abel (Lion) with her Sword (Zain) out of Love in order to mix his blood with the white gluten of her Eagle. Thus bringing to birth the Magickal Child as a Phoenix, destined to be the One Star in Sight.

The Universe

This painting is in oil on 18"x24" canvas. It was painted in February of 1988. It is one of J.Edward's major Tarot trumps titled "The Universe." It represents the place of Holiness or looking down upon the sacred Mountain where mankind communes with the Gods. The mountain is erupting and spewing forth the four elemental qualities which flow outward from Saturn, the City of the Pyramids. It is the source of a Star's Light as it streams forth to animate and impregnate the Universe by its mere utterance as the Word. The woman, surrounded by a blood red background, is Babal-ON or the fertility which drives and brings forth All utterance while riding the Beast.
